Trevose

April 25, 2010 0 Comments Gillys Missives by Chris Gill

On the final day of the Cornish festival we had the pleasure of playing at the fantastic Trevose golf club on the north Cornish coast. The day was stunning with bright sunshine, but had a cold easterly wind making the course very long at times. I felt like I played ok but as mentioned before, my scoring boots are not on yet and I think the best thing to do is stay patient and keep doing what i'm doing. I shot a round of 75 +4 for the day for a +9 total for the tournament. Just goes to show that as soon as the rust goes we will be flying. My team had a really enjoyable day even if the golf was not as amazing as the surroundings. As was the story of the week, to many errors at key times lead to a score of 74 points to finish under par for the tournament.

Keep up to date with all the latest results and if any of you fancy playing in any of the pro am's in my diary then please contact me on chris@chrisgillgolf.co.uk.

St Enodoc

Dear All

What a day we had today. We Played at the fantastic St Enodoc course on the north Cornish coast. The wind was up and as it was a easterly, it made playing very tricky at times. I played well again, controlling the ball flight great but failed to get the thing near enough to the hole to make any real birdie chances. A round of 71 +2 was the up shot but as i say not to upset as i feel my game is coming into some kind of form. With Wentworth now only a month away this can only be a big step forward in the right direction. My team all played well in spells but again struggled on the greens and had 75 points. This does however make us under par for the tournament. Every cloud and all that. We are playing our final round at Trevose tomorrow afternoon with all of us determined to get something going and finish on a high. Hope you enjoy the blogging and i look forward to hearing some feedback.

Cornish festival

Dear all

We are in sunny Cornwall for the festival and the conditions are great for golf. I booked a appartment which is fantastic with all the mod cons. We had the 1st day yesterday at the very intresting Perrenporth golf club. The course was very dry and the wind blew a little makling controling the ball very tough indeed. I found the course very tough to get the ball close to make any birdies. I only made one which was when i drove the 8th, a short par 4. My team also struggled to get to grips with the course and our score of 1 over has left us alot of work to do over the next 2 days. We are just about to leave and go and play the geat course at St Enadoc. I love the course and am hoping to improve on my score of 3 over par. The best score of the day was -6 so i have to pull my socks up and go low today. Hope you are all well and enjoying the sunshine.

Gilly's Golf Day

April 06, 2010 0 Comments Gillys Missives by Chris Gill

Dear all

Hope you all had a great Easter weekend and enjoyed the sunshine for a change.

I had my golf day on 1st April and was a great success. The sun was out all day until the last group reached the last green. Everyone had a great day, with a special thanks going to George White and his team for the catering.

We ended up having 33 teams, with 23 prizes on offer thanks to the support of the local clubs and companies.

Winning team for the day were (left - right) Alex Worthington, John Faiman, Ian Plowman and Ian Black with 84 points. Well done fellas. A cracking result considering the wind and length of the course. They won a 4 ball voucher for any course, any time at Woburn. Hope you enjoy the day. The boys in my team played well to finish 4th so we have a day for the fantastic dorset golf club Parkstone.

Once again, thanks to you all that took part and all the sponsors for making it a great day. Oh yeah, almost forgot. Big thank you to Ben Lynch and Russell Mayne for all their help in sorting the day. Cheers lads!

Hope you enjoy the blog and keep up to date with my season. My next event is the Cornish Festival where i will be blogging daily.

Regards, Gilly

My lovely wife and I have just returned from a fantastic holiday to the Dominican Republic. The weather was great and the food just as good. I have just got to the golf club to make the final preps for my golf day tomorroww. The weather is cold, wet and windy but fingers crossed the course is open and we can all have a great day. I have a bundle of prizes, with the top 5 teams really in for a great treat. I'll have some photos from the day to put up soon so log on over the weekend for updates.

Have a great easter weekend and happy golfing.
